It started as a cookbook for JJ Johnson’s, acclaimed restaurant in Harlem, Cecil. The project grew much bigger, encompassing the rich history of African American diaspora through their food; from the American South, to the Carribean, Brazil and Asia. The typography connects all the dots of these different stories and tastes complimenting the beautiful photographs by the talented Bea da Costa, in opulent ochres, browns and reds.
